Florence is a must when it comes to Italy. And if there is one thing to tick off the checklist in Florence, visiting the Santa Maria del Fiore Cathedral is number one. Oh and eating lots of ice cream and pizza.
Santa Maria del Fiore Cathedral:
This is the main church in Florence….and hard to miss. The exterior consists of soft green, pink and white marble which makes this truly one of the most beautiful attractions in Florence. Not only can you explore the inside but just to the side you can climb the dome. Now don’t get me wrong… the dome is not for everyone. It takes about 15 minutes to get to the top. Sounds easy right? Well that is if you are ok with walking up a stairwell that just fits the width of my body (not the best if you are claustrophobic). But once at the top the view of the whole of Florence is incredible!
Next is some of the gardens in Florence which my sister and I stumbled upon by accident and decided to have an impromptu photoshoot. We spent about 3 hours exploring the manicured gardens and overarching trees (picture perfect for a wedding I must say) before heading back to our hostel for our final night.
